Life is a very interesting phenomenon. Usually, though, most of us are too busy living it by rushing around or worrying about the future to really understand or appreciate it. However, if we can, from time to time, stand back and take a look at where we’ve been in our life that tends to help us understand better where we’re going. Saying this is based on the fact that everything in life is relative and the more we can focus on the relativity of what our life has been our planning for the future becomes more relevant. Of course, this does not mean that we can predict what is going to happen but at least it will give us a general idea of what the future might hold.
For instance, life tends to send repetitive messages or lessons to us every day so that we might be able to grasp them if not the first time, then perhaps the one-hundred-and-first time. The lessons are meant for us to understand what we’ve accomplished thusfar so that when the next lesson arrives, much like a test or challenge, we can look back and realize that there is a similarity between this new lesson and old ones that we’ve encountered, successfully learned and completed. In this way, we can then call upon those factors in the preceding lessons and use them to deal with the lesson that presents itself in the present. The more able we are to reflect on what we’ve already accomplished, the less fearful or doubtful we are in taking on a new lesson. It is then that we can begin to identify our strengths and weaknesses and apply whatever necessary remedies to our lives based on that awareness. There really is no sense in continuing to make the same mistakes over and over again. It’s not only time consuming but self-defeating.
Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on our perspective, although we cannot predict the future, we can still call upon the past in order to deal with the present and take the most positive, successful outcomes to build upon the right now! Keep in mind that today is only yesterday tomorrow. Everything is connected and so instead of seeing life as a series of separate episodes, try perceiving this meaning: life is a process that evolves over time with all of the episodes that we encounter being interconnected. It will take some time to accomplish a more clear perspective but once we have, there will be much more value that we can attribute to our lives. The time spent in gaining that introspection is well worth the effort and the payoff will help us feel much more in control of the time that we have on this earth.
