WordPress plugins have a lot of functionality that add a lot of value to your website. Today, we are going to look at 2 such plugins that can really help you with your WordPress website’s management. The first WordPress plugin will make adding links to other pages or blog posts into another page or post a very easy task. The second plugin will add a lot of value to your website’s sidebar by letting you add in your social media links, and helping your site’s viewers gain access to you across various social media platforms.
Adding links is real easy using the link tool that is available within the editing screen. WordPress offers a built-in tool that lets you search for the page or blog post and then quickly insert the link to your selected text within the editing interface.
However, if you are looking for an even easier way to add links in your content, especially if you want to link to one page or post from another page or post, you can look at the Wiki Links plugin.
All you need to do is put in double square brackets around the text you want to make a link. For example, if your text is something like: ‘For a more detailed explanation, just contact us and we’ll be happy to guide you’, then all you need to do is put the brackets around the words ‘contact us’ like so: ‘[[contact us]]’ and you are good to go!
Now, even if you rearrange your pages in any way, your links will still work and you won’t have to go around changing the links everywhere! Click here to find more information about this plugin.
Adding Social Media Icons
As a writer, it is important that you have a great dialogue with your audience i.e. your readers. Social media platforms like FaceBook and Twitter are great places to have awesome conversations with people across the globe.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could put in the links for your various social media profiles so that your site’s viewers can get in touch with you? With the Social Media Widget plugin, they can!
Social Media Widget plugin comes pre-packaged with some really good looking icons for a number of social media websites. All you have to do is add your profile links in the widget, and select the look of the icons and you’re all set!
With all the links right in your WordPress website’s sidebar, your site’s viewers can just click on the link and come straight to your FaceBook page or Twitter page and keep in touch with you. Although their icon set is pretty extensive, if you are on a social media website that isn’t included, you can just as easily add the links to your own icons and add these custom links into the widget.
You can have a look at their icon sets and features by clicking here.
Plugins like these certainly make your life easier. Managing your website doesn’t become quite a chore once you’ve set them up, and started using them.
We will be continuing this series for a while – where I outline different plugins that might prove useful and become part of your must-have list!
